Hey everyone,

I made a deep-dive on BF6 Portal and it's spatial editor is a month old, but now that people are finally getting to mess around with the spatial editor tool for BF6 Portal (myself included) - I'm starting to find that a lot of my earlier speculations I brought up a month ago in this video are turning out to be true. I imagine that if you're on the sub, then you probably are interested or have been playing around with the tool yourself, so you maybe know some of these things already - but in case you don't, or maybe you're questioning if Portal having more advanced features is even that important in the long run for its success - hopefully this video explains why and how it is.

I'll admit it's still very early for me to make this kind of claim and to try and push for more advanced features (terrain editing & custom asset importing) now, and while I'd like to just assume improvements will come - I thought the same thing with 2042, and that didn't really happen. Skepticisms aside, I'm having fun messing around with the scripting and custom UI stuff - I think we'll definitely see some fun party-style modes coming very soon, but I would like to eventually make my own large-scale Conquest map eventually.

Some other things I found that I hope are improved for Portal too:

* Creators / server hosters should be able to add or remove bots mid-match - for the purpose of testing out modes that require a certain number of players to start, or for certain custom gamemode functions to work properly.
* There should be a way to publish Experiences in a "private" kind of way, or test stuff locally - so stuff can be playtested before it's out there for the public to see. The only way to really test if stuff is working is to re-upload the spatial .json file again with new changes - and during that time, people could find and play an Experience before it's actually ready.
* There needs to be better thumbnails for Experiences when browsing. Ideal and easiest solution could just be allowing creators to upload their own thumbnails, but that could lead to it being abused (moderation seems to be mostly automated, so not everything will be caught I imagine) - so another solution could be to have a specific camera labeled and set up in the Godot project for the purpose of taking a thumbnail snapshot of the level.
* The Search menu for finding Experiences through sorting by names and filters is a good start, but I hope that stuff in the Most Popular category does get rotated out after enough time, or there's an option to also sort Experiences via a period of time (e.g. "Most Popular over 1 week; 3 months; 6 months; etc."). It'd just be nice to find popular Experiences that are newer, rather than just the all-time most popular ones.
* Search menu should have a way to browse multiple pages - right now the displayed list after searching is capped at 24, with no way to search through more options. This makes it harder for newly uploaded stuff to get traction when searching via Recently Added or Updated, since it's only actively displayed for a specific period of time before it gets shuffled out by new Experiences.

My thoughts on BF6 Portal's Spatial Editor, and it's future
