Can cataract surgery be done to maximize chances of any errors occurring on the distance vision side?
I am getting to the age where cataract surgery is probably in my future within the next few years. I realize that no lens is going to make you see as well as you did when you were 20 and that some compromises must be made.
What I would like to be able to do after the surgery is to be able to read books and work on a computer with as good of vision as possible, certainly without glasses and if there has to be something that isn't great let it be distance vision as I've been wearing glasses for distance most of my adult life. I don't often drive at night so I don't think the halos that come with the current generation of multi-focal lenses would be that big of an issue for me.
My best guess right now is that some sort of multi-focal lens will be my best choice.
My biggest question is how likely is it that the results of multi-focal lens implants to give me damn near perfect near and intermediate vision and that anything needs glasses post-surgery that it be for distance? Is it possible to skew the possible imperfections to happen on the distance side?
