Before u downvote just listen. Aot, the anime, is incredible.

First lets talk about writing. Its very good. Not the best ofc but still great. Lets say Monster is a 10 in terms of story, plot writing Aot imo would be a 9, 8 at least . Its great but some points could have been explored more. I personally really like the timeskip, which some ppl do not like which is understandable, but its gives a nice change in perspective and pace.

Next if i talk about character writing. The best example of this i can think of is NGE. Its a 10, especially shinji is amazing. Aot would again be a 9, 8.5 at least. Eren is done brilliantly. Even other characters like reiner, jean, zeke are really good. But i would have liked if we got more scenes solely focusing on the characters' internal conflicts and though processes. I wish we had gotten more scenes like the Ramzi scene, the eren-reiner convo, which are probably my fav scenes in the entire anime.

The plot twist, the foreshadowing, for the entire anime is also brilliantly done to say the least. The reiner reveal, basement, the eren manipulating grisha is all amazing.

Now talking about presentation. Music, direction, animation, etc. its a 10. This makes it much different from the manga ofc, as things a able to leave a much bigger impact.

Now the worst part, the ending. Its the only major flaw imo. If Code Geass is 10 in terms of conclusion, Aot would be like a 7. Its nowhere as bad as ppl make it out to be, but it has major flaws. Too much plot armor, the entire mikasa-ymir thing was really outta nowhere. Although the direction of the ending, cycle of revenge kind of thing, it was good but the execution was really bad. As for eren's conclusion, i like it. Him crying was just what i was expecting but again execution wasnt good. Again the ramzi scene should have been the blueprint of the end convo.

Its not the best in many categories, but it is still one of the best. I would not say this about the manga, but will about the anime. It is simple enough for a 12 year old to enjoy and understand, but at the same time can be analysed for much deeper themes. There are shows which do some particular thing better than it, but it does everything great. Not the best in any major category but still one of the best.

Its a perfect package imo. For me its my fav show oat. I would dare to call it one of the shows of all time. But ofc all this is subjective and yr opinion can differ from mine.

Would love to hear yr thoughts.
