Steal my custom cards ideas — How balanced is this ?
Hi ! Here are 12 additional custom Action cards I've been working on for a while and I wanted to know if you had any insights or observations, especially about the balance of those cards. This is meant for play with two decks of 110 cards. Feel free to take inspiration from them to create your own custom cards !
Note that the format is :
• Action card name (monetary value) — number of copies [emoji] Description and effects.
CUSTOM ACTION CARDS — MONOPOLY DEAL "DELUXE" 🃏
• Reverse Card (M1) — 5x ↩️ The direction of play is reversed at the end of the player’s turn. This becomes the "normal" direction of play until it is reversed again with another Reverse Card.
• Liquidation (M1) — 5x After using this card, the player may play up to 3 additional cards this turn (for a max total of 4 actions). Liquidation must be used at the start of the player’s turn.
• Cybersecurity (M1) — 3x 👨💻 The player turns all cards in their Bank face-down so other players cannot see their Bank's contents. Any new cards added to that Bank are placed face-down. They all remain like that for the rest of the game.
This card can also be played to flip another player’s face-down Bank cards face-up again.
• Offshore Account (M2) — 3x 💱 The player takes 2 cards of their choice from their own Bank and adds them back to their hand. All players must see which cards were taken, even if they were face-down due to Cybersecurity.
• Inflation (M2) — 3x 🎈 All other players must discard one card from their hand (their choice). Cards are placed in the discard pile, one player at a time, in normal turn order.
• Go to Jail (M3) — 3x 🚔 The player chooses another player who must skip their next turn. The targeted player may pay M10 to the user of this card to cancel its effect. A player cannot use more than one Go to Jail card per turn.
• Inheritance (M3) — 3x 🪙 The player steals one random card from another player’s fanned hand. The stolen card may be played immediately, depending on the number of actions remaining for that turn.
• High Interest Rates (M4) — 2x 📈 All other players must discard the highest-value card from their Bank. If a player has no cash or assets in their Bank, they must instead discard a House or Hotel (highest available value), but never a Property. Cards are placed in the discard pile, one player at a time, in normal turn order.
• Pay My Rent (M4) — 2x 😈 This card can only be played in response to a Rent charge (not any other type of payment). Choose another player — that player must pay the Rent instead of you. If that player was also required to pay Rent from the same action, their own payment is not cancelled; they must pay both.
The player demanding the Rent cannot be targeted by Pay My Rent. In a 2-player game, this card cancels a Rent card instead (as Just Say No would).
• Double Sly Deal (M5) — 2x 🥷 Steal 2 Properties of your choice from another player. Reminder : you cannot steal from a complete Property set.
• Recycling Day (M5) — 2x ♻️ The player draws two cards from the top of the discard pile, then places Recycling Day itself on top of that pile. All players must see which cards were taken.
The player cannot retrieve any cards they played during that same turn. Drawn cards may be played immediately, depending on the number of actions remaining for that turn.
• NUKE (M10) — 1x 🚀 Choose another player’s Property set (complete or incomplete) to destroy. Any House or Hotel on that set are destroyed as well.
All affected cards (Properties, Houses, Hotels) are sent to the discard pile in the following order :
- Hotel [bottom]
- House
- Wild Properties (multicolor Jokers)
- Two-color Wild Properties
- Standard Properties [top]
IMPORTANT : NUKE cannot be cancelled by Just Say No and cannot be retrieved from the discard pile. It is the only card in the game with these exceptions.
