SolarEdge wants us to pay $50/year for a data plan

I just received this email, which by the date included seems to be a year late:

As the manufacturer of your solar inverter, we at SolarEdge are committed to ensuring you continue to get the most out of your investment.

Your solar inverter includes a modem with a prepaid 5-year cellular data plan, which keeps it connected to our cloud server. We are reaching out to let you know that the 5-year plan has expired and it's time to renew.

SolarEdge has been covering the cost to keep your system connected, and this coverage will end on 12/20/24. The cost of a 1-year data plan is $44.99.

While your system will continue to produce solar energy without a new plan, renewing your data plan ensures continued access to remote installer support, SolarEdge Monitoring Platform and the mySolarEdge mobile app.

Is there any way to just hook this thing into our wifi? This seems to have been a stupid decision in the first place for SolarEdge to set up a data plan.

Monitoring mySolarEdge is what let me spot the two times our system crashed, most recently because the inverter failed and needed replacement. (Yeah, I've read what some of y'all have said about SolarEdge, oof).
