Snorkeling in the South of Crete (cloudy water)

Hi! We are currently vacationing in the South of Crete (near Matala) and usually love to snorkel. But for the whole last week, the water was very cloudy. Does anybody know what‘s going on or has any recommendation for a nearby spot with clear water? I appreciate any ideas!
