Maternity leave paycheck ??

I live in northern California and recently went on maternity leave. I used up my personal days leading up to giving birth and then took my maternity leave right when that finished. HR let me know that I’d be going straight into differential pay (my paycheck minus the sub’s pay) since my leave was already up.

I was under the impression that the 6-8 weeks of maternity leave would be fully paid. I received $400 💀

Is this the case with everyone else? Is maternity leave basically a job security rather than paid leave?

The lady at The Standard told me that teachers don’t get disability pay thru the state. Curious to know what everyone else applied for. Thanks in advance!
