How to start
Hey mama’s! So this is my first time posting, I need all the advice you ladies can give!
This is my second child, my first go around my milk dried up very quickly but I contribute that due to some rookie mistakes I was making (trying to improperly latch vs. just jumping into pumping immediately, not pumping on a schedule, not eating properly due to exhaustion, etc). This time around I wanna do it right and really wanna breastfeed for at least 6 months - a year.
I’m due November 11th and I have a spectra s2 pump coming in the mail next week from my insurance. I’m also planning on getting a hand pump from my WIC office if I can (or just buying one on Amazon if I can’t). I do have a few questions tho:
- I plan on exclusively pumping since latching didn’t go well for me at all last time. Should I just immediately start pumping at the hospital after giving birth?
- How long do I wait after giving birth to try and pump?
- Should I try expressing colostrum before baby is born, and will that make more milk come in after he’s here?
Thanks in advance ladies!
