So I finally got to go in an get assessed after decades of being undiagnosed and unmedicated (I'm 31). I go in and sit and she tells me to give her the rundown of my life to get to know me a bit. Not even like 2 minutes in I mention the suspicion of ADHD and she laughs and shows me her notes--first note is "ADHD?" And I couldn't help but bust out laughing. But I also felt like crying??? I'm not sure why.
I wanted to share because it was a really big milestone to finally be validated after all these years and begging my mom to get me assessed/to get help, other doctors brushing me off because I didn't act like their ADHD 6 year old son at 22. I felt crazy. But now I feel a bit hopeful. Isl what this post is beside me talking out to the void but, if anyone has been in my position, just know you're not crazy.
