Top Underrated fights and things in Naruto
- Gara vs Mizukage war arc
Mizukage's jutsu is creative and Gara finds a scientific way to stop it. Also one of the rare fights that doesn't include the main characters in war arc. Gara really proved his battle IQ and strength here and placed himself as a strong kage level character.
- Chiyo and Sakura vs Sasori
One of the rare moments Sakura gets to fight a kage level enemy. Extremely interesting fight in both anime and manga as Sasori and Chiyo pull out creative puppets and traps, Sasori is also underrated as a villain. Often missed theme here is it is girls against a boy, mainly his grandma and Sakura, but the boy Sasori has turned himself artificial trying to erase his humanity.
Reason for doing so comes from his broken love from when his parents were killed, and only real part of him now is his heart. On the opposite end are two women who are tied to love, Chiyo is his family and she also experienced loss and Sakura's entire character is connected to loving Sasuke and trying to connect to him, listening to her heart, so Sasori going artificial but unable to escape his humanity seems fitting to face off against two women.
- Sasuke vs Danzo
This fight has everything but this fight also deconstructs who Danzo is. He is a politician trying to gain control of the ninja world and is convinced he is doing it for the greater good. His main jutsu is izanagi, a self illusion that overwrites reality, refusing to acknowledge defeat.
It is a fitting jutsu for someone who is delusional. Sasuke even calls him out on it, "You are preaching self sacrifice but you are hiding behind others". In Danzo's flashback the reason of his insecurity is revealed, he was a coward and tried to overcompensate on it, convincing himself he will do whatever evil necessary because only he is brave enough to do it.
- Itachi and Sasuke vs Kabuto
This one is not so much underrated but I feel izanami is an underrated jutsu. People don't seem to realize it will work on every villain in the story. An Uchicha jutsu developed by Uchichas for people like Madara, who refuse to acknowledge reality and their own ego, it is designed to counter izanagi and lock the opponent into a loop until he or she realizes why they are doing what they are doing.
That means it will work on anyone with evil goals, like Danzo, Madara, Obito, Kaguya, Orochimaru. It worked on Kabuto and he is an interesting character because his identity and goals were something he copied from Orochimaru. He didn't have his own reason to do what he does and izanami forced him to face his past and who he truly is.
- Neji vs Kidomaru
Neji is a close range fighter specialist, Kidomaru is long range. This fight showcased that (there is no way Neji would be hit by some falling wood) Neji can even counter his counter with his mastery of gentle fist. But for Neji it was also something else, he finally accepted he wasn't perfect and stopped trying to be perfect. At the end of the fight, he realized he was chasing his mastery and never stopped to admire the beauty of it all.
