I’m worried I am a drama queen but I am told I under react instead of over react
I have a pcl injury. It’s not a major knee injury, even full tears are treated with physical therapy and surgery is rare.
I have many oactivity restrictions for the first 4-6 months (avoid uneven surfaces, stairs, hills etc) and then another 6 months of light activity (no high impact activities like running, jumping or climbing). So a year before I’m back to normal.
It’s so weird because it’s uncomfortable but not excruciating and recovery is a long time but it is not surgical so it’s in this weird space between being significant and insignificant.
I reinjured myself hiking 8 months after the original injury so I think the one year estimation is accurate.
I am having issues with quad shutdown, which is usually seen in people post knee surgery. I am beginning dry needling and an electric treatment next week.
I try to downplay it. When people ask how long until I’m back to normal they seem shocked and seem to think it’s more serious than it is.
I don’t know how to view it or myself. Is this a real injury or just a little boo boo?
