Meet my freshly adopted little man, Squid. Cerebral hyperplasia (CH for short, also called wobbly cat syndrome) means that Squid is very uncoordinated and unable to walk. His CH is very severe and means he needs special care and assistance. Luckily, Squid can use his litter box independently and is able to eat and drink on his own. However, I have been holding him still while he eats to make things easier on him. He moves around by pulling himself with his front legs and occasionally launching himself forward with the back. He's much faster, more curious and exploratory than I ever expected. He is very clingy and cries for me when he wants attention or gets stuck somewhere. He's getting along incredibly well with my other black kitty, Wrigley (he also had CH, but it is very mild), and my doggo, Meera. My 5 year old kitty, Hades, hasn't yet decided to be polite to Squid, but he only hisses at him, thankfully.

The learning curve has been steep since i brought him home on Monday, but every bit of effort has been worth it. Squid's former parent had to give Squid up due to losing their home and had a friend post about Squid here on reddit in an attempt to find him a new home. I commented on that post and a bunch of amazing human beings came together to get Squid from Arizona all the way to me in the Midwest. It took him a couple days to get over the flight and the meds he needed on said flight, but he seems to settling in very well considering the circumstances that brought him to me. I hope that some of you who see this might consider looking into adopting a special needs kitty after reading Squid's story and I'm open to any questions anybody might have.

Also, sorry about my constant commentary. I just can't help myself 😭 yes, a bird got into the house and Hades caught it. Thankfully, it survived with only some slobber on his back to show for the whole ordeal.

This is Squid. He has cerebral hyperplasia
