Input lag question for 4ks capture card

I recently picked up a 4Ks because I was tired of patching together 3 mins clips made the Xbox highlight system lol. Was real excited to try it out but have been pretty disappointed. I figured there would be some input lag but it’s a lot. I’m not sure if I’m just really sensitive to it or it’s normal or there’s something wrong but in fps I can hit a thing. Like genuinely unplayable for me lol. Is this more meant for slower paced games? Changing the capture resolution doesn’t seem to make any difference even down at 720. Just curious what other experience has been and if there’s anything else I can try
