Looking for recommendations

Hi friends!

Longtime lurker here despite not owning a kindle, lol. But I’d like that to change!

I’m on the fence about saving up for a kindle as a gift to myself for getting to my 23rd birthday (very tumultuous personal life and physical/mental health issues, so my birthday is always a big deal to me! Plus it’s an excuse to spend a bit of my paycheck on myself as opposed to immediately going to savings for rent sooo 😌).

I was hoping for some recommendations as there are way too many options, at wildly different price points, so bonus if it’s somewhere trustworthy with good discounts! I like the appeal of the paper look and I read in bed at night, if that changes anything. I like the color ones but they seem much more expensive, so I’ve been uncertain whether it’s worth the extra cost.

Presently, I’ve been using my iPad but I use it for schoolwork/notes, so reading at school drains my iPad battery. Plus, it’s not necessarily light and I like the appeal of a paper-like screen. I try carrying my books around but have to travel light, given significant spinal issues, so I’m looking for an alternative!

Many thanks in advance for any advice!
