Moving to Myrtle Beach area

Just wondering what North Myrtle Beach is like. Is it friendly? I am from the North ( I hate being called a Yankee. I know what Southerns think when they say Yankee and it isn't nice) Are people friendly and get together? What about crime? Is it a large city? I know Myrtle Beach traffic can be bad. How North Myrtle Beach?.
