What do you recommend for a replacement?
I currently own a 2019 ThinkPad P50, i7 w/ m2000m 4gb gpu, 32gb RAM, 2x 1TB SSDs and a 500gb HDD. This was an engineers laptop before i got it for $50. I need to switch to a newer PC due to not being able to upgrade to Windows 11, yes I know there are "backdoor methods" but I need a stable platform and getting a newer PC seems to be the best option right now, seeing as how old my PC is.
I use my laptop mainly for work - cybersecurity. I rarely play any games but a GPU would be nice if I do. Im almost always running a VM or making new ones before deploying them into an environment. I hook up to external monitors often and transfer data off and on the PC constantly, along with hash cracking.
I've determined I can't go below the standard 15.6/16in screen, 32gb ram and minimum 1TB SSD, lots of USB ports is preferable and an SD card would be sweet.
Im not an IT guy, im a cybersecurity guy. I dont know the latest and greatest CPUs or GPUs on the market, they don't matter to me if im doing forensics or pen testing. I just need whatever it is i got to work.
So... Is another Thinkpad the best option for me? I see the ideapads and thinkbooks dont have the best reputation. Are the Yogas any good for serious work or are they geared towards photo editing? Would another brand model work better for my situation?
