Jautājums/Question

Hi guys,

So my question is this, I am due to renew my latvian passport coming this july. Which is all fine and dandy, but a mate from Latvia told me that you need to bring a translator with you now if you do not speak latvian? Is it actually true?

I moved away from Liepaja as a 10 year old, parents spoke some latvian, some russian, some polish at home. I do understand spoken and written latvian, I am shite at writing in latvian though and when I am trying to speak it - english comes out bfr anything.

My latvian auntie used to come with me before to all of them legal affairs, but she did die recently. So could I just go and nod my head and sign and whatever, or do I have to actualy talk to ppl in the office, and hire a translator? I have some basic conversational language with an awful accent haha.
