Going To Court For a Speeding Ticket

Location: Weaverville, California

I received a speeding ticket in California (Trinity County) doing 71 in a 55 but was written up for 65 in a 55. after talking to the cop for a bit he told me that his retirement date is the same day as my court date and that he wouldn't be in court that date. Kind of a lucky an unique situation but is it worth attempting to fight it in court knowing he almost for sure wont be there, or should i just pay it and request traffic school?
