Instead of bringing back drops as challenge rewards, have weekend events that offer drops for people to play underplayed game modes.
Before the "6 7" event was seemingly thrown together, the ranked quads playlist had about 1000-2000 active players. That's about the same number of people playing ranked rumble at any one time.
After the event started, more than 50000 people are in the ranked quads queue (as of right now).
Drops are undoubtedly a major motivator when it comes to rocket league. Every streamer benefited from twitch drops when those were available for weeks prior to worlds. Apparently the playerbase is very susceptible to getting rewarded with drops, and I suspect that the ranked quads playlist won't have such a rank disparity between skill levels after enough people shuffle themselves into ranks, since they're finally playing the mode.
So... you've taken away drops as a basic challenge reward... just have weekend events that offer those drops back for other playlists that aren't ranked 2s like rumble, snowday / dropshot, hoops, whatever else. You would just be giving the playerbase back what they already had but in a new form, encouraging revitalization of different modes with players who don't typically play those modes.
Basically, use what you already have to help influence better outcomes.
I know people want drops, and you've already said you're going to roll back the change on getting basic drops from challenges, but the "6 7" event clearly shows an opportunity to expose people to game modes they may not have played in a while.
I don't expect any sort of support for this because it's basically saying that players should "work for what they had before", but this is a call to learn and improve for the health of the game.
Thanks for your consideration.
