Neighborhood Cat Nemesis

There is a new free-range cat in my neighborhood. I haven’t been able to figure out who it belongs to yet, but yesterday I saw it carrying a poor dead bird out of my yard on its teeth. Beyond tracking down the owner and begging them to keep it inside (or at least get it a dang bell), is there anything I can do to protect the birds near my feeder? Is there some scent cats hate (but birds don’t) that I could spread around? Any tips welcome!
