Over perscribed?

I took my 48 LB dog to the vet. She was shaking her head and scratching her one ear. Cytology was done. Verdict was mostly debris and dirt and slight yeast. She was perscribed 8 drops Otizole 2×/day for 14 days. I'm not a vet but why does that seem like it's too much?
