Stressed, tired and confused.

Hi everyone, I’m coming here for any advice honestly. This is my second pregnancy and my first with gestational diabetes. I failed my one hour, and then slightly failed my 3 hour test. It’s been confusing to say the least, at first I was told I passed and then two days later I was told I actually failed. My OB couldn’t really tell me much other than my fasting numbers should be under 95 mg/dL and an hour after eating breakfast, lunch and dinner it should be under 140 mg/dL. They’ve referred me to speak to a nutritionist/someone about the GD. My OB still wants me to track my blood sugar levels before seeing the nutritionist, which is fine. I’ve been taking my blood sugar for the last 10 days and until 4 days ago, I felt like it was going alright. I’ve been trying to google what I should and shouldn’t eat. The last three mornings my fasting blood sugar has been 99, 95 and 95. My last three “after dinner” readings have been high too and I’m not sure what’s going on. Tonight I had the same meal I had a week ago and my blood sugar was 161 when last week it was 118. I’m so confused and stressed out. What am I doing wrong? My after breakfast and lunch numbers are great, but for some reason I’m spiking after dinner (not sure if 95 fasting is considered failing too). I can’t get into see the nutritionist until the 16th so, any advice is appreciated.

Wanted to add that I’m also not a big protein/meat person, but I’ve seen some people recommend protein shakes to help with spikes. Is this good advice to try? I am also only drinking water since I got diagnosed.
