Vandalieu Ark Hillwillow Solder Zakkart
Vandalieu is the main protagonist of the Japanese light novel series The Death Mage Who Doesn't Want a Fourth Time. Born as Amamiya Hiroto in modern Japan, he is reincarnated into the world of Origin, where he dies tragically a second time and ultimately ends up in the world of Lambda. Marked by his unique death attribute mana, the young Dhampir comes to be both feared as a potential calamity and revered as an emperor by his growing nation of undead, monsters, and outcasts.
Physicals
Explanation of the Stat System in Lambda:
In Lambda the laws of nature are such that the battle capabilities of individuals are reflected and ruled by their stats. There are 6 stats total: Vitality, Mana, Strength, Agility, Stamina and Intelligence.
This is Vandalieu's stat sheet at the end of volume 3. (Chapter 66) Here are averages of human stats for comparision. (Appendix 3)
Stats are mostly what they sounds like, with two exceptions. The minor one of the two is Intelligence, which is also connected to spellcasting output. (Chapter 33)
Strength:
- Can harm Gordon (Chapter 46), despite him using defensive skill prior (Chapter 46), via physical attacks. Gordon is on the level of a B-class adventurer (Volume 1 Character Summary) and can fight Vigaro (Chapter 45), a rank 7 monster (Chapter 53) at the point specializing in physical combat. Rank 7 Monsters can tank hits from lightweight missiles and B-class adventurers are expected to be able to defeat those or even stronger monsters. (Appendix 3)
- Can turn the ground into hands easily strong enough to bury Rank 3 monsters. (Chapter 16) Rank 3 monsters are about as strong as a brownbear. (Appendix 2)
- Can create stone hands strong enough to briefly restrain the orichalcum golem. (Chapter 35) Said golem is strong enough to kick its own giant metal head at massive speed. (Chapter 35)
- Can create massive golems and defeat those who can easily crush them, i.e. Gordon. (Chapter 43)
- Can create cursed weapons strong enough to launch massive boulders and Riley, who as a B-class adventurer is comparable to Gordon, can destroy those in a single attack. (Chapter 43) The novel specifies that these are human-sized boulders and that Gordon is destroying them, too. (Chapter 47)
- Can make Golems out of wood harder than iron and able to withstand charges of 5m tall boars. The resulting wood golems can still be easily destroyed by orc generals the like of which can be defeated by Rank 5 Vigaro. (Chapter 19)
- Can send a huge orc flying all the way to the edge of the village with his mana bullets. (Chapter 21)
- 5 meter big turtles that fly at high speed are considered just Rank 5. (Chapter 41)
- Riley can destroy dozens of tons worth of rocks with a single martial art. (Chapter 55)
Durability:
- His magic barriers can block attacks from Gordon. (Chapter 46) Gordon is on the level of a B-class adventurer (Volume 1 Character Summary) and can fight Vigaro (Chapter 45), a rank 7 monster (Chapter 53) at the point specializing in physical combat. Rank 7 Monsters can tank hits from lightweight missiles and B-class adventurers are expected to be able to defeat those or even stronger monsters. (Appendix 3)
- His barriers defend him against even the strongest attack of Bugogan, a Rank 6 Noble Orc. (Chapter 33)
Speed:
- Fast enough to dodges attacks from Gordan (Chapter 46) and keep up with him throughout their fight. Gordan is on the level of a B-class adventurer (Volume 1 Character Summary) and land hits on Vigaro (Chapter 45), a rank 7 monster at the point specializing in physical combat.
- Should be faster or at least comparable to the D-Rank Adventurer Kachia, who can swing a bastard sword faster than the eye can see. (Chapter 15)
- Should be faster than the fodder adventurers that barely caught up with old Zadiris, who can dodge an arrow. (Chapter 13)
- Stated to fly with the speed of a bullet. (Chapter 20)
Skill & Combat Smarts:
- Has Level 4 in Unarmed Fighting Technique. (Chapter 66) That gives us a rough idea of his fighting skill, as Level 5 is a first rate user by the superhuman standards of Lambda. Level 10 would be what in an ordinary world is only possible in fantasy. (Side Chapter 33) So Level 4 is already considerably gifted.
- His fight against the Nobel Orc shows well how Vandalieu is a creative, hard to anticipate and varied fighter, who tends to approach his battles with pessimistic caution. (Chapter 24)
Special Abilities
Death Magic
Magic that can only be learned by those who inherently have no affinity for any attribute of magic. It might be more appropriate to say that such people are born without an affinity for any other attribute. It cannot be gained by those who have no inherent affinity for any attribute due to a curse.
It is an attribute for which nobody in either Origin or Lambda possesses, other than Vandalieu, and there are no past examples, either.
However, it is apparently partially similar to the special abilities wielded by the Demon King Guduranis.

There were several occasions when the elderly researchers in Origin that had treated him as a guinea pig died of strokes, became spirits and then completely changed their personalities and apologized to him in tears. He hadn’t thought badly of them for it; if it weren’t for his conversations with the spirits in Origin, his mind would have crumbled long before his body died." (Chapter 4)

No-Attribute Magic
This is magic cast using Mana that hasn’t been influenced by any attribute and doesn’t exist in Origin.
Because it uses Mana that hasn’t been influenced by any attribute, anyone can use it no matter what attribute he or she has an affinity for. Thus, it is convenient for both those teaching the fundamentals of magic as well as those learning them, so apprentice mages begin learning the sensation of using and controlling Mana with this magic.
Because no-attribute Mana is not influenced by any attribute, it quickly disperses once it leaves the body. Because it is difficult to maintain, only has simple effects and using magic with an attribute produces more efficient and effective results, the people of Lambda consider it as little more than a tool to train with.
It is common for first-rate mages with level 5 in magic with an attribute to have a level 1 skill in No-Attribute Magic.
However, there are also a few who do not fail to perform fundamental training in no-attribute magic.
