Just finished GG
I'm not sure about the opinion of other fans, but personally I think this show is one of the most overhyped series by fans. I'm assuming it's mostly people who were teenagers when they watched this and are still nostalgic to it.
I think season 1 was the best, most of the characters were interesting, especially Serena. Unfortunately after Season 1 her character was slowly being changed into this hypocrite, evil girl. Especially after Season 3.
Blair on the other hand had a pretty better character development, until she left Dan and just decided to revert back to how she was.
Chuck Bass is Chuck Bass. I hated him in S01 but bit by bit he became more likable. What I couldn't stand about his relationship with Blair is the constant on and off. And not even for good reasons (most of the time).
Nate is ... there.
One of the other things that bothered my most is how glorified S & B's friendship was although they kept backstabbing each other.
I should probably mention though that whatever ideas I had about the show came from YouTube edits and their comment section. I was mostly impressed by the idea of Serena's character and I wanted to find out. The first season was pretty decent (although sometimes cheesy, but I liked it!) it felt very... comforting. Just a bunch of teenagers with daddy's money who party and have high-school problems.
But as each season went on, especially after S03, I just felt... tired? Like COME ON, how long can you drag this with pretty much the same plot? And don't get me started on the Louis plot-line. That was the worst IMO. But as usual I had already committed, so what's a few more seasons/episodes? Besides, I could use the excuse not to study.
The ending felt a bit rushed. Which is ironic after all of that dragging of the plot with minor differences.
Overall, didn't hate it, but could've been much better. And now I know what the fuss was all about.
Thank you for listening to my ramblings.
