Should I keep my Quebec plates in Ontario?

I pay for Ontario insurance (insurance is at an Ontario address, my insurance company just said to register my car to Ontario asap). My plates are just registered to Quebec. I tried to get my car safetied but I'll need to do at least 1700$ in repairs to pass safety in Ontario. I'm thinking of just renewing my registration in Quebec. Can I face any major repercussions from my insurance? Or the law if I get pulled over (even if registration is up to date and insurance is in Ontario)? Thanks :)
