Finding Local Set Designers

I’m a big fan of Halloween, and one idea I’ve been playing with is trying to find set designers from local theaters to build more intricate Halloween decorations for my house, with a matching donation to the organization that employs them.

I’m just looking to see if anyone knows folks who are part of these playhouses who could point me in the right direction rather than spending hours cold-calling places. Push comes to shove, it’s okay if it’s too late to do anything too cool, but I know there are probably a lot of places that could use a few extra grand for their own work, and some creative people who might like to do something cool for kids and get paid in the process.

Even if you don’t know anyone specific who might be able to do it, I’d love to hear recommendations on an local theaters that are worth donating to, so that if I don’t do it this year, I have time to do it next year.

Thanks.
