Travelling from Canada - What to expect

Event

Hi everyone!

My partner and I are coming down next week for a concert, and we are starting to get nervous about coming. We used to frequent Seattle and other US cities for concerts, but have generally steered clear recently since we aren't necessarily "Cis" presenting, and read a story recently about a transwoman being attacked in the city.

We usually stay overnight, walk around, find food, etc. This time we are planning to drive straight to the venue, maybe stop somewhere for dinner, and drive straight back. I have been getting more paranoid by the day, to the point where I almost just want to forget about going.

The crowd at the concert will likely be very queer friendly based on the artist.

Am I overreacting, blowing things out of proportion? I don't even really know what I am afraid of, but I've heard even having anti-fascist comments or LGBTQ+ posts in my phone can be an issue if it is searched. Being victims of violence or detainment is the extreme I suppose.

We love Seattle and have missed travelling there a lot this summer, but our safety needs to come before everything else. Any opinions welcome!

Thank you.
