Are you afraid of turn signals?
To start with, I know why people drive the way they do: they're selfish. This is just a rant because I'm sick and tired of watching it.
We live in a world where rules exist. They exist for a reason: because we've seen what happens without them, and we'd like to stop it from happening in the future.
The law that requires us to use turn signals is one such rule. It's there so that the people around us can know in advance what we intend to do. That ensures we avoid crashes, which increase insurance costs for everyone, and puts lives in genuine danger. Very few people involved in a crash thought it could happen to them.
I see people every day who change lanes or turn without using their turn signal at all,, and I've figured it out: you're all afraid of them. There must be some deep-rooted fear involved. You want to be good, you want to do the right thing, but you don't dare move that little lever, for fear of the devastating consequences.
I must have had the rare instance of only ever driving vehicles where the turn signal is broken, because whatever terrible outcome everyone is so afraid of has never happened to me.
