Refutation of Istighatha

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stood up one day and mentioned stealing from the spoils, emphasizing the severity of the matter. The Prophet said, “Let me not find one of you on the Day of Resurrection coming with a growling camel mounted upon his neck and he says, ‘O Messenger of Allah, rescue me!’ Then I will say, ‘I have no power to rescue you, for I already delivered the message.’ Let me not find one of you on the Day of Resurrection coming with a neighing horse mounted upon his neck and he says, ‘O Messenger of Allah, rescue me!’ Then I will say, ‘I have no power to rescue you, for I already delivered the message.’ Let me not find one of you on the Day of Resurrection coming with a bleating sheep mounted upon his neck and he says, ‘O Messenger of Allah, rescue me!’ Then I will say, ‘I have no power to rescue you, for I already delivered the message.’ Let me not find one of you on the Day of Resurrection coming with a crying soul mounted upon his neck and he says, ‘O Messenger of Allah, rescue me!’ Then I will say, ‘I have no power to rescue you, for I already delivered the message.’ Let me not find one of you on the Day of Resurrection coming with fluttering garments mounted upon his neck and he says, ‘O Messenger of Allah, rescue me!’ Then I will say, ‘I have no power to rescue you, for I already delivered the message.’ Let me not find one of you on the Day of Resurrection coming with gold and silver mounted upon his neck and he says, ‘O Messenger of Allah, rescue me!’ Then I will say, ‘I have no power to rescue you, for I already delivered the message.’”

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَذَكَرَ الْغُلُولَ فَعَظَّمَهُ وَعَظَّمَ أَمْرَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَا أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ بَعِيرٌ لَهُ رُغَاءٌ يَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَغِثْنِي فَأَقُولُ لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ لَا أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ فَرَسٌ لَهُ حَمْحَمَةٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَغِثْنِي فَأَقُولُ لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ لَا أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ شَاةٌ لَهَا ثُغَاءٌ يَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَغِثْنِي فَأَقُولُ لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ لَا أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ نَفْسٌ لَهَا صِيَاحٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَغِثْنِي فَأَقُولُ لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ لَا أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ رِقَاعٌ تَخْفِقُ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَغِثْنِي فَأَقُولُ لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ لَا أُلْفِيَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ يَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ صَامِتٌ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَغِثْنِي فَأَقُول لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ شَيْئًا قَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكَ
