I just discovered I have scoliosis

I am f15 and just did my X-ray yesterday to find out I have a 22.3 degree curve. From what I researched that is mild so I think I’m fine? I’m still in the process of finding a doctor to go to but my parents (work in med, but other fields) told my I should try to refrain from carrying anything heavy until we get an appointment. My school bag is pretty heavy bc I carry tons of notes to the point that I sometimes carry books in my hands bc they don’t fit in the bag. My school doesn’t have an elevator, it is currently being built, will probably will take a year or so to finish?? Not sure. I’m not sure what to feel or to do so I just want any advice and to know if it can progress or get worse
