Did everyone do this?

Im 15 and I want to ask my parents to let me buy GTA V so I can play Online with my friend (don’t start telling me not to buy it. I’m mature and I’m not a screaming 5 year old). I’m sad that I won’t get the experience of going to a game store with my parents to buy GTA, because I use a gaming laptop (my Xbox one doesn’t work very well). Did everyone experience this, or is this just the internet making me think it’s what everyone did.
