Timing chain
Scheduled an appointment with Honda because my 24 civic touring hatch Canadian edition made a loud clunk and vibration when my daughter was driving. She noticed intermittent loss of power. She called it lagging compared to normal and also had intermittent vibrations. Honda diagnosed the timing chain was leaking oil and needed to be replaced. The car is barely 2 years old and hasn’t quite hit 20k km. Kilometres not miles. This can’t be normal. It will be replaced under warranty but I will be without a car for 4 days. One of the pros for me in buying this car was it had a timing chain, not a belt. This is my first Honda that I bought with confidence, but I have an uneasy feeling about the first 2 years of ownership. I needed to replace the CV boot on the front right axel which is not under warranty, it’s a ware and tare part like breaks or tires. The hatch was leaking (they couldn’t replicate even though I had pictures and video). Now this with timing chain. Is this what Honda is now? This car out the door hovered around 50K Canadian. Around $36K American. I was so exited to buy this car and now I’m wondering if it was a huge mistake
