Travel across the border with zone 10 ticket

Can I cross the border with a zone 10 ticket? More precisely, is it allowed to travel from the last stop in zone 10 to the first stop on the French side and get off the bus if I only have a ticket for zone 10? Can I do this in reverse - that is, get on the bus at the last stop in another zone and travel to zone 10?
