How to have more fun in class?

I’m taking classes at the Barrow Group in NYC, and for the life of me I can’t really figure out why I’m not having as much fun as I thought I would be having. The instructors are great and I generally like my classmates, but I’m struggling to engage with the class.

For context, I’ve always gauged my progress from show to show. I’ve always felt like I was getting better after every production. But I’m struggling to see if I’m really progressing in this class. We do the scene, the teacher gives instructions, we do it again… and that’s it.

Granted, this is the first time I’m actually taking acting classes, so maybe it’s just an adjustment thing. But I really want to enjoy it and I’m just really not :( any input would be greatly appreciated!
