Career development plans

Currently working on FP&A. Mainly Revenue reporting, slowly starting to take on more responsibilities. I want to look for the next step, and I also want to gain more tools to do my job better. I talked with my Finance Director about potentially doing CFA and he was happy to request financing for it to the CFO, but I am afraid it won’t be too alligned with my career as it is 100% unrelated to investment decisions. Any tips please?
