New player in 2.7: Seeking pull advice post-starter banners

I did my homework to the best of my ability so far and that resulted in picking up Verina and Shorekeeper at the start, but I'm wondering where to go from here. Through my research I uncovered that some units are simply better for a player like myself (someone who may not be the best playing optimally at all times or doing high apm quickswaps and the like), and that left a rather short list of characters that immediately piqued my interest. However, those characters have all either had reruns recently before I picked up the game, been waiting for a long time with no rerun in sight, or just ran in the prior version update. I also see that some of the newer units are less plug and play friendly and require a built limited team to function well. That's obviously not something I can really do right now as a new player and that makes the choice of what to do a bit more daunting to me.

So, what advice would you have for pulls? Should I bite the bullet and begin building one of these new teams they're putting out now and complexity be damned, or should I sit on my resources and pray something friendlier to my player disposition makes an appearance before the next anniversary?
