Imagine how angry people will feel if communism returns to the West but instead of the traditional Marxist proletarian communism, it's the 1940s Communism in the Soviet Union. The "Stalinist" communism.
That would be the apocalypse of communist Twitter. You can hear the collective rage already. A Western country announces it's elected a communist government for the first time in decades. The internet explodes with joy, everyone’s picturing Marx, Engels, Kropotkin. Then the first photos drops… and it’s that ultra simplified, authoritarian, tankie-style communism. The kind you see in the Soviet Union, Maoist China, Pol Pot's Cambodia, and every Cold War era show that ever got called “tankie”
The meltdown would be biblical. People would claim it's disrespecting Marx's legacy, perhaps it's better if communism is dead, etc etc etc. There would be videos, essays, thinkpieces, all dissecting how the West “betrayed” traditional communism by the replacing Marxist era style with oppressive leaders and an authoritarian state.
And to be fair that rage would kind of make sense. People don’t just miss communism; they miss the results of it. The dictatorship of the proletariat, the redistribution of wealth, the seizing of the means of production, the economic system that felt alive. If the West came back with a government that looked more like Stalin's than Trotsky's, people would see it as proof that even “the return” has been watered down for modern tastes.
