STEM PhD student considering an online MSF
Hi all,
Current PhD student studying therapeutics at a top 10 program. I have another couple of years left but after taking various courses, exploring career options, and networking I have decided to pursue a career in finance after I defend. I understand that ER is the typical path PhDs follow to break into the finance sector, however I am considering a different path. I am heavily considering applying to an online masters in finance program, either Fordham or the program via Harvard Extension School. I would complete this degree over the next 2 years as I wrap up my lab work, given I am not taking any classes in my PhD program anymore. My goal would be to break into Healthcare or Life Science focused IB immediately upon completion of my PhD. Is this ridiculous? I am looking for thoughts, opinions, and advice.
Thanks all
