AE character when I buy DLCs

Hi guys, just wanted to ask out of curiosity, I'm playing the basic Anniversary Edition, but since I enjoy the game I figured I'd buy Ragnarok and Atlantis DLCs. I have a character in Epic Act 2 now, what would happen to him? Would I have the possibility to go back and finish the new acts in Normal and then continue as usual?
