Help - 1st tantrum!

As per the heading, LO is 17 months old and I think we just experienced our first tantrum. For context she's been sick all week and not eating well so I think a lot of it came down to being hangry. She didn't want to leave the park and then she insisted on driving her own stroller and we didn't let her so she had an absolute MELTDOWN for about 15 minutes. Like she was in a full rage, crying, screaming, throwing things, trying to run away and it was sooo hard to settle her even after we came home (5 minutes in). As a newbie to this phase of parenthood, wanted to understand wtf you do in this situation and if this is normal / how common?? I tried to reason, ignore, cuddle and soothe, distract and nothing really worked. Pls share your strategies!
