Find your people: r/Dayton 15-year meetup anniversary (Oct 28 @ The Brightside)

Pinned

15 years ago I organized the very first r/Dayton meetup, and the turnout was surprising. We had 14 people show up at South Park Tavern, crowded around three tables we pushed together, with some of us huddled around the firepit on the patio on a chilly late October day. We had a hand-drawn reddit alien on a piece of notebook paper as our table flag so people could find us.

The second time around, about 25 people joined us.

Lifelong friendships were made at those meetups. Hell, I met my best friend at the very first one, where we instantly bonded over our shared love for Nine Inch Nails and the then-just-released Social Network soundtrack.

So after years of quiet, we've been rebuilding momentum with new meetups — and now we're back with something big to celebrate.

We're teaming up with The Brightside for a 15-year anniversary meetup on October 28, 7–11pm.

We're keeping this to 75 people so everyone can actually meet each other and it's not overwhelming. We're already almost halfway there, so if you want in, lock in your spot now.

RSVP takes 30 seconds. Just your name and email, no account needed.

All these meetups are being planned in the new r/Dayton Discord server – our online hangout for locals.

Almost 1000 members now. Book clubs, trivia teams, group hikes, new meetups every week. There's lots of deep convos about all kinds of topics happening all day. Even people vibing in voice channels together while they work.

Last week we had about 14 people show up at Belmont Billiards to play pool and hang.

When you join, say hey in #introduce-yourself—drop your name, neighborhood, and what you're into.
