Does Hermes usually sing along during Why We Build The Wall

I've seen the show twice in London recently and I noticed that Cedric's Hermes sang along with everyone else on stage during Why We Build The Wall but today Allie Daniel's Hermes didn't sing along, but stood there looking upset / possibly crying. Presumably it's actor's choice but has anyone noticed a particular trend one way or the other?
