Strange new behavior in cat with CKD, is it a sign of pain?

Species: Cat Age: 17 Sex/Neuter statues: female/spayed as kitten Breed: domestic shorthair (adopted from shelter) Body weight: 11.5 lbs History: has feline interstitial cystitis due to anxiety being treated with 7 mg Prozac and 75 mg zylkene daily (used to occasionally pee outside the litterbox due to this but has been well under control for several years now); also has chronic kidney disease that has recently started impacting her appetite Clinical signs: recently not eating her dry food at all (typically fed 1/4 cup in morning & 1/8 cup in evening), has recently started eating her wet food again if I mix in some Hills prescription ad. General location: NE Ohio Test results: all normal except the following Hemoglobin 10.1 S D M A 25 Creatinine 3.6 BUN 63 ALT 22 AST 13 Amylase 2,345

About 2 weeks ago, my cat Kiera stopped eating well. When I took her to the vet, bloodwork revealed that her kidney disease had worsened and I was told it wasn't unusual for cats with kidney disease to stop eating here and there. With some anti-nausea meds and a few cans of Hills prescription ad, she's slowly starting to eat again.

However, she's begun waking me during the night. Sometimes multiple times, sometimes only once. She meows loudly and paws me until I wake up. I don't know what she wants. I'll get her food if her bowl is empty, I'll pet her for a little while, and she either settles or she doesn't. Is she doing this because she's in pain? Is this just a weird quirk that has started around the same time as health issues and is completely unrelated?

Thanks for any advice.
