Black-hole Blowup?

So I recently unlocked black hole/spaceman (don't @ me, I hate getting knockback tome) & I noticed whenever I hit one of those exploding bugs on forest with my blackhole, they would explode as though I were next to them? Is this a known bug, or is it some kinda feature?
