2025 rav4 phev owner here. My wife and I share the car. Is there a way for the car to auto connect to our phones without having to switch multimedia profiles?
Hi all,
I'm running into a quality of life issue on the rav4 that I can't figure out how to resolve and I'm sure there is a solution because this seems like a basic issue...
The Problem
My wife has apple carplay and I have android auto. Let's say she most recently drove the car. When I take the car out, my android auto wont automatically connect to the car. I first need to swap the multimedia center's profile to my own profile, then android auto will automatically connect. Then when my wife goes to drive after me, it'll be the same issue for her and apple carplay.
The Question
Has anyone who shares their car figured out how to get their phones to automatically connect to the multimedia center without having to take any manual steps?
Maybe there's a way to link the keyfob to the profile or something?
FWIW the multimedia center is pretty slow to load I have a habit of reversing out of my driveway while it's loading which means I'm changing the profile while driving on my neighborhood street... one of these days I'm going to hit a kid chasing a ball because I'm too impatient and frustrated that toyota didn't solve for this problem :\
PS: I tried posting this in r/toyota but it looks like the different models have different multimedia systems.
