Conversion and marriage issues
If you are a convert to a religion, do you usually date lapsed / secular members of your old religion or social milieu, do you date fellow converts, or do you date people who were raised in your new religion.
For example, John Smith was raised atheist but his grandparents were Historically Black Protestant. He converts to Islam. Does he date lapsed / secular Protestants / Atheists / random people in the social milieu he converted to, or does he date people raised Muslim who may not have anything culturally in common with him on a cultural level.
What decision do you personally do, if any? For me, I only really date agnostic / secular / lapsed, pagan, and eastern religion people, because people raised religious are disturbed that my parents are atheist and my grandparents died atheist. Moreover, most religions are associated with a certain ethnic group here. While I'm fine with dating any nationality or ethnicity, their parents would have to approve me.
What are your thoughts on the matter?
