Ureaplasma, NOT Yeast

Hi ladies,

I’ve been battling what I thought was a mild yeast infection for 4 months. My first ever YI was in June, where I had all the typical symptoms. This was also the time I began to see my new boyfriend.

Every month since then, sometimes multiple times, I would have mild burning, itching, sharp pains, and an odd discharge. It appeared as small dots on toilet paper that I assumed were yeast particles (?? not even sure that’s how that works lol). None of this would respond to -azole treatment or boric acid. I just recently started to get pelvic pain during sex, too. Almost like period cramping that fades away after we finish.

I was just tested for all the things and turns out of I have ureaplasma. This makes sense, as my symptoms began around the time I began having sex with my boyfriend. So, now I have to get treated and he has to get tested/treated. I’m assuming he is the one who gave me this.

I’m interested in hearing others experience with treating partners and how they were able to manage their infection, especially if it’s been months of having it. He also doesn’t have health insurance at the moment, but should within the next week.
