Worse than the .com era

:tiny:

I feel like it’s worse than the .com era. Today is the vast majority of the hot market consists of just a few overvalued items surrounded by a more modest economic picture in valuations.

Basically any gains in the market in recent years are also just a function of depreciation of the dollar in real world buying power, not a gain of wealth. This is because the incomes of the vast majority are leaving little discretionary spending if you aren’t in the top 10%, so lack of liquidity among the masses greatly narrows the potential and heightens the tension around investing.

Any stagflation today will not be like the 1970s, the masses don’t have spending margins like then, and stagflation may well seize up the economy which will send shit rolling uphilll

The last 75 years in American economy consisted of and were founded upon corporations coagulating and siphoning wealth out of the formerly solid and ubiquitous middle class. By 2025 that wealth is almost completely gone, so as far as the 90% bottom are concerned there isn’t much left to take and if the power of the wage gets even worse than it already is, it’s enough that critical and banal services will begin mysteriously shutting down left and right
