C-section convo with MIL
I had my shower yesterday and after, we stayed at my in-laws for a bit just chatting. While we are close to them, we have never shared our birth plan. As it doesn’t really pertain to them. Almost since the beginning of the pregnancy I knew I wanted a c-section, because I knew I wanted my tubes tied at the same time. Both my mom and aunt passed away from ovarian cancer, and geneticists have always told me when I’m done having kids I should get my tubes tied/removed to reduce my chances of also getting it. This is definitely our one and only, and the fear of cancer is a lot. All of our doctors are on board and totally agree with our decision. When we told our in-laws, My MIL got uppity and kept saying things like “can’t you have the surgery at another time?” “C-sections aren’t the easy way out” “I feel like you are rushing this decision”. I just stayed quiet but it really bothered me. I know it’s not the easy way out. But I also don’t want cancer and don’t want a second surgery. This wasn’t a rash decision we made. Also, I’m sure I was extra emotional yesterday because her entire family showed up for this shower which was amazing, but it just reminded me that the women in my family were missing.
