The meaning of Votann

(Rant: I was playing Hoi4 and while looking at boat names i noticed a name)

The Name Wodan is used in German Mythology as a stand in for odin.

With him being of course the All-Father of the norse gods he is frequently describes as very wise.

Tho that is the less interesting.

There is an opera for the figure Wodan although a little alteration to his name. This being Wotan.

And the author describes this being and i quote "the sum of the intelligence in the present"

So leagues of votann would be something like "the leagues of the combined wise gods of the present".

Dont know if this was ever posted or noticed but i just noticed now so maybe some ither will lean it too.
